Use your library card to access R.E.A.D.S. ebooks, audiobooks, and more with the Overdrive app on your mobile device.
The Regional E-Book and Audiobook Download System, otherwise known as R.E.A.D.S., is a program offered through the Tennessee Regional Library System and allows library patrons to check out and download e-books and audio-books onto personal computers, CDs, mp3 players, IPods, IPads, the Nook, the Kindle, Android devices, e-readers, and other devices. (A complete list of compatible devices can be found here.)
The collection contains thousands of titles including fiction books (bestsellers, children’s books, christian fiction, mysteries, thrillers, and other genres), and many non-fiction e-books and audio-books. Items can be checked out and downloaded for a maximum of three weeks and are free to patrons with accounts in good standing.
We have provided instructions to help you get started using R.E.A.D.S. on various common devices. Choose your device below to go straight there. Our library staff can also provide limited assistance.
Download R.E.A.D.S. e-books to your computer, and transfer to your Nook with Adobe Digital Editions and a USB cable.

What you will need:-
Adobe Digital Editions for Windows or Mac OS – Adobe ID – Library Card – Internet connection
To get an Adobe ID and Adobe Digital Editions software:-
1. Download Adobe Digital Editions: click here
2. Open Adobe Digital Editions. During setup, follow the link to Get an Adobe ID (when signing up for Adobe ID, match email with
Nook account).
3. Authorize your computer with your Adobe ID.
To download e-books:
1. Go to the R.E.A.D.S. website: http://reads.lib.overdrive.com
2. Login.
3. Find an eBook you want and check it out. Choose EPUB or PDF > Add to Cart > Proceed to Check Out > Select Lending Period >
Confirm Check Out > Download Now.
4. Download the eBook to your computer.
To transfer to your Nook:
1. Open the downloaded file using Adobe Digital Editions.
2. Select Library View: Book covers display on the right.
3. Plug in your Nook to the USB port. Nook will appear on left.
4. Drag the book cover onto the Nook icon. Release when the green arrow appears.
5. On your Nook: View Documents to read library e-books.
To return e-books early:
1. Open Adobe Digital Editions and select Library View.
2. Click the minus sign next to the book and choose Return Item.

You may download R.E.A.D.S. e-books to your Kindle. Books are delivered to your Kindle account and you can manage library books just like your other Kindle books!

What you need: Amazon Account – Library Card – Wi-Fi
To download Kindle e-books:-
1. Go to the R.E.A.D.S. website: http://reads.lib.overdrive.com
2. Login.
3. Find a Kindle Book you want and check it out.
4. Choose Kindle Book > Add to Cart > Proceed to Check Out > Select Lending Period > Confirm Check Out > Get For Kindle.
5. Login to your Amazon account. Click Get library book. The book will be delivered over wi-fi.
To read your Kindle Book:
1. Kindle Books are stored in your Amazon Kindle account with other archived items. You must have wi-fi turned on to download
Library books to your Kindle.
2. Go to the Menu on your Kindle. Click Sync & Check for Items.
3. Go to Archived Items > Download. The book will be downloaded to Home.
To return early:
1. Go to Amazon.com > Manage Your Kindle.
2. Choose Return this book from the Actions menu.
To delete from device:
1. Go to Amazon.com > Manage Your Kindle.
2. Choose Delete from library from the Actions menu.
– If you have an iOS, Android, or Windows device, get the Kindle App and read across devices!
– Start reading on your Kindle. Bookmark your place. Pick up your smartphone and open the Kindle App. Sync. Continue reading from your bookmarked page.
Download R.E.A.D.S. e-books directly to your iPad/iPhone/iPod with Overdrive App or Kindle App. Books are delivered over Wi-Fi.
If using Overdrive Media Console for iOS, you will need:-

Directions for Overdrive App for iOS
1. Get the free Overdrive App from the App Store.
2. Get an Adobe ID: adobe.com > Sign In > Create Account.
3. Launch the Overdrive app, authorize your device with your Adobe ID.
4. To download e-books: Open the Overdrive App and tap Get Books.
5. Tap Add a Library and find your library.
6. To check out: Choose EPUB eBook > Add to Cart > Proceed to Check Out > Sign In > Select Lending Period > Confirm Check Out
> Download Now.
7. To read: Open the Overdrive App and tap Bookshelf. Tap a title to begin reading.
8. To return early: Tap Edit > Tap the red minus sign > Return and delete.
Directions for Kindle App for iOS*
1. Get the Kindle App from the App Store.
2. Sign in with Amazon account.
3. To download e-books: On your Apple device, go to the R.E.A.D.S. Website: http://reads.lib.overdrive.com.
4. Login to R.E.A.D.S.
5. To check out: Choose Kindle Book > Add to Cart > Proceed to Check Out > Select Lending Period > Confirm Check Out > Tap Get
for Kindle
6. Sign in to Amazon.com > Get library book. Book will be delivered to your device over wi-fi.
7. To read: Open Kindle App. Tap Home or Archived Items.
8. To return early: Go to Amazon.com > Manage Your Kindle. Choose Return this book from Actions menu.
* If you are unable to access Kindle Books on your smartphone, use a computer or tablet to browse and checkout Kindle Books. Books will still be delivered to your mobile device over wi-fi.
